Jabberwock

Jabberwock is a national program within Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. that reflects the Sorority's commitment to scholarship and the arts. Jabberwock is a fundraising event dedicated to scholarships and public service programs. Proceeds from Jabberwock activities and fundraisers are used to provide college scholarships, funding for youth initiatives as well as providing service to the community.

Jabberwock was originally conceived as a unique way to raise funds for scholarships. "Jabberwock," copyrighted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is inspired by Lewis Carroll's poem "Jabberwocky" from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. In the poem, creatures from across the kingdom gather annually for a grand pageant.

The inaugural Jabberwock was held in 1925 in Boston, Massachusetts, by members of the Iota Chapter as a new method of raising money for their scholarship fund. Originally envisioned as a musical variety show featuring skits and dances, the Jabberwock has evolved into a more diverse program that continues to raise funds for scholarships.
